Love this!!!!
Written by Cheryl on Sep 30th 2017

I love the hard back version, I keep it on my porch and read it all the interesting articles and refer back to them throughout the year. I especially look at the forecast for my region and love to write how our weather compared to what the Almanac says. The Gardening calendar is wonderful and once again use it all the time. I like to look at the "old Almanacs" how things have changed and how many things have stayed the same. You will love the hardback version, don't hesitate to purchase it

2018 Old Farmer's Almanac Collector's Edition
Written by Beverly W. on Sep 27th 2017

The hardback copy of the 2018 Old Farmer's Almanac is beautiful and exactly what I had hoped for. And the 2018 calendar is terrific too. I know I will enjoy both next year. However I think that the 1918 and 1818 paper editions of The Old Farmer's Almanac are a waste of paper. I can just barely read the 1918 edition and I cannot read the 1818 edition at all. It is simply not legible--like trying to read something that has been scanned many times over and has lost quality with each scan. The eye strain is just not worth the effort involved.

Wonderful!
Written by Jeanne on Sep 27th 2017

I just received this, and it is the best! The calendar is beautiful, the 2018 Almanac is so much better to read and easier on the eye than the paperback I always have gotten in the past. Best of all, the 1818 and 1918 Almanacs are such a treasure. I do a lot of historical research for a local historical landmark to share information about our past and the Almanacs are such a rich source of the common man's life and wisdom. Thank you Old Farmer's Almanac for such a great gift and my bargain of the year!!!

Entertaining As Always
Written by Michael Wilson on Sep 21st 2017

I have always loved the Old Farmer's Almanac, but now with this Collector's Edition Subscription, I have more gardening wisdom and homespun humor than ever. I love the replica almanacs from 100 and 200 years ago, and the gardening calendar presents the information in a very practical and attractive format. And my annual subscription means I'll receive my Old Farmer's Almanac before it hits the bookshelves every year.

The 2018 Old Farmer's Almanac - Collector's Edition Subscription
Written by Stacey L. Hartlage on Sep 20th 2017

I originally was only looking for a calendar and then I saw this set that has a yearly renewal subscription which was right up my alley!!! From now on I won't have to be searching for "the right" calendar and I will still get the 'free gifts' which I will use as gifts just a few months later since I assume it will be the same thing I just got when I started the subscription. I started reading everything and it is full of useful information - Thank You!!!

It is simultaneously a walk down Memory Lane and secret window into tomorrow! Thank you so very much! Blessings; Deborah

Don't know what I did without it
Written by Lauren L. on Sep 5th 2017

I used to have a "black thumb", killing all plants including a cactus! Since I started using the Farmer's Almanac, I have planted flowers that are growing like crazy, my yard is beautiful, and I can plan for future events based on the forecasts. The 2018 Collector's edition is wonderful. I got the 2017 edition last year, and the calendar is very helpful and informative. The re-prints from 1818 and 1918 are really cool, and I like looking back at what things were like 100-200 years ago.

Plus, when trees are cut down, responsible companies replant. it is called CONSERVATION and Reforestation! When we cut the OAKS off our farm, we replanted 10,000 trees a year for three years, and that was a whole lot more than we cut down. You need to learn the whole story before you spout off. NOW, I will get off my soap box!

Written by EBalen1969 on Aug 18th 2016

I think the hardcover edition of the Old Farmer's Almanac is far better than the paperback version. The hardcover edition transforms a mere paperback into a hardcover book complete with dust cover. Considering the fact that the 2017 edition is the 225th Anniversary Edition, the hardcover edition is a perfect keepsake. Thumbing through the pages reveals a replica of the very first edition ever printed!

I use it for planting our flowers and vegetables and fruits now that I am not farming anymore. It is very accurate and I will continue to use it all the time. Have bought "Old Famers' Almanac" for years! Even the advertising, is interesting! The only problem I've had, is that NOT many retail stores carry it anymore -- locally it's ACE Hardware, which it's easy to get to! The clerks all know where The Almanac's kept!

I love "Old Farmer's Almanac"
Written by Sandra Krieg on Sep 25th 2015

I love "Old Farmer's Almanac" I grew up with it, my grandparents farmed by it. I love the information it provides on so many levels of interest. I refer to it every year for planting, pruning, and harvesting information. The weather is fairly accurate and makes planning future activities a lot easier. People who have never acquired an "OFA" don't know what they are missing! Is the "OFA" in the Guiness World Record Book? I am sure that it should be! LOL Have a great season, looking forward to my new issue!

Perhaps offering to buy the Electronic version as a gift would be a good idea? You could offer an auto-email notification/pick up system, with a 30 day pick up window. And for an added cost of say $1.00 to mail a special printed card to tell the person of his waiting gift? This would help to bring more people to know of the joys of the Almanac! I personally use it when ever I am moving from one state to another for the extended weather reports.

Written by LF Miller on Sep 29th 2014

The story goes in our family that my dad thought his dad's old fashioned planting by the moon was silly. He set up his half of the garden his own way. My grandfather planted by the OFA calendar. Dad got a gorgeous garden. Granddad got the vegetables. Dad planted by the moon ever after.

I am west of Richmond and east of Roanoke in central Virginia (Lake Anna area). The forecast for the two zones are slightly different, by the way....

Written by kerstinelaine on Aug 29th 2014

I ordered the Hardcover edition even though the shipping is the same as the regular book. I also got the FA for kids volumes 1-4. Still the same amount in shipping. I am still relatively new to gardening and I was so eager to get everything in the ground and started in my green house. My friend has an almanac calendar and went by those dates on what to do when. I thought it was strange as I had my squash in the ground 2 weeks before hers from transplants, and hers grew twice the size of mine and produced more than twice as much! I planted mine at her house because we did a garden together since I have limited space where I live. They were right next to each other and there was a very notable difference. I am going to be studying this book from the moment I get it! I've got to learn this stuff lol!

I grew up on a big farm with my grandparents, and they didn't do anything without checking the almanac first. My grandpa actually taught me how to read with the almanac, and I've been hooked ever since. Some of my favorite childhood memories are of my grandpa and our times spent reading "the good ol' almanac" as he affectionately called it. I wouldn't trade those days for the whole world.

Written by Cathy Aronson on Aug 28th 2014

The Old Farmer's Almanac has been part of my life for the past 60 some odd years. My Dad would read my bedtime story from it when I was a child, and when I began to read, I would read from it along side my Dad. It has been my "go to" for gardening, home remedies, recipes, and of course, the weather. I anxiously look forward to the new issue every year, and begin reading it as soon as I get it. Thanks Old Farmer's Almanac for being an integral part of my life!

Written by Michael Moore 2 on Dec 21st 2013

I follow the Old Farmer's Almanac closely for almost every aspect for practical information, especially gardening, lawn development, shrub and tree planting and animal care. I have been reading this almanac since I learned to read at the age of 7 years, when my grand father introduced it to me as I sat beside him or in his lap on our front porch. It was the first thing he read every morning before breakfast, then the Bible. It is a time honored tradition in our family. I now read my hard copy with my grandson looking on, in much the same way as did I as a child. I thank you good folk at OFA for all of the hard work in research and development you put into each publication! God bless and Merry Christmas! Mike Moore

Always packed with hours of fascinating, useful and entertaining reading. But I was disappointed recently when I bought the Southwest edition at Home Depot and saw how chocked-full of ads it was. I hadn't looked at an Almanac for a long time and didn't remember that being the case years ago. Personally (make a note of this, marketing department), I wouldn't mind paying more for an ad-free version. I mean, jeez, aren't we bombarded enough on a daily basis with advertising? I don't know if the hardcover is the same, but I sure hope not. It's a book, not a magazine...
