Pre-order today, ships in August.

It’s another new year celebrating everything under the Sun, including the Moon, with The Old Farmer’s Almanac, America’s oldest continuously published periodical! Always timely, topical, and distinctively “useful, with a pleasant degree of humor,” the Almanac has been beloved for centuries by people from all walks of life.

Includes a free hole for hanging up in your outhouse AND 32 extra reference pages!

As the nation’s iconic calendar, the 2018 edition will mark the days, months, and seasons; preview astronomical events; and cover a range of related topics: trends, gardening, long-range weather forecats, anniversaries, recipes, home remedies, pets, husbandry, folklore, amusement, contests, fishing, and more—too much more to mention—all in the inimitable way it has done since 1792.

Regional Editions

To Our Readers: In the interest of our tradition of useful simplicity and because much more localized astronomical information is now instantly available at Almanac.com/Astronomy, beginning with this year, our previous Western and Southern editions will be supplanted by this new, more robust National edition that is usable throughout the United States. If you previously used our Western or Southern edition, we hope that you enjoy the improvement. As we endeavor to ensure that this Almanac is “Old” but not old-fashioned, we embrace yet one more innovation for the 21st century.

Growing up, my Dad was a Deputy, Rancher, Commercial Fisherman and master gardener. We had a house full of kids so...
Anyway, I don't recall ever seeing our home without a current copy of The Old Farmers Almanac. It dictated so many aspects of daily life and never seemed to be wrong.

I like the Farmer's Almanac. I thought I was getting the hard back book. It was the paperback version, which still does the job just right!

very useful in planning motorcycle rides.

For many years I have included readings from the Farmer's Almanac in my monthly radio show. I also played acoustic music from folk, bluegrass, cowboy and Americana musicians. I believe the almanac readings were a unique addition to my show, and sort of a "hallmark" for a radio show.

I've been using the Old Farmers' Almanac for years and find it handy for all types of information, anecdotal, weather, astronomical phenomena, agricultural hints, pet information and more. I don't think I'll ever be without it.

Do you have the Almanac in Large Print?

Submitted by

Sorry. No large print editions. The Hardcover Collector's Edition has slightly larger type and whiter brighter paper for easier reading but that is it.

I was under the impression your famous magazine was available by subscription, but it seems I am mistook! Wanted to give it as a gift. What shall I do instead? -CS

Although the Almanac only come out once a year unlike magazines, it is jam packed with a year's worth of humor, information, and advice. It's probably still the best gift you could give a person!

I've read the almanacs from the other guys and they just don't compare! This is the original and best. The planting and weather guides are useful and love the folklore.

best days to plant peanuts in Va. in June?

I heard that if you cut your hair on one side of Full moon or the other it will grow faster. Which side is it, I;m trying real hard to get my hair to grow. Thanks

Submitted by

It is actually 3-5 days after the new moon, which is increasing in size; all the way up to 3-5 days before a full moon.
For places you don't want hair to grow it is always after the last quarter only. Before long you will notice a difference either way.

Here is our Best Days timetable with best days to cut hair to encourage growth.

I ordered an almanac from an online bookseller; it appears to be the Bookstore edition, with no hole in the corner. Is the paperback Regional almanac the one with the hole in the corner? because if it is, I will purchase it from you!

I got my Almanac and Gardening Calendar last week. I love it. The only thing I'm not happy about is a forecast of a mild and dry winter for my area. I was hoping to see some snow :-)
